I was in Miami for a conference, and I got up early to do a timelapse video of the sunrise. It was a wild guess as to what to set the camera on, since it was nearly total darkness when I started it at 6 a.m.
The clouds were moving north (right-to-left), and it’s cool to watch the cumulus build and then taper off. It was a very humid morning, and later in the day there were towering thunderstorms out over the ocean.
TECH DETAILS: I set my Canon 5D to take one photo every 10 seconds (using an intervalometer and the lowest-size JPG). I used Aperture Priority (Av), and set it at f/4.0. The shutter speed varied from 3.5 seconds at the start of the series to 1/8000th of a second at the end. There are a total of about 600 shots, spanning about 90 minutes in real time.
